Terms of Service
Last updated: 2025-10-07
Agreement and Changes
By using Trace Writing (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these Terms; continued use after the effective date means you accept the changes.
Operator and Service Description
The Service is operated by Minor Role Inc., a Wyoming corporation (“we”, “us”). Trace Writing lets you create print‑ready handwriting worksheets from your text or images. Processing (including OCR and PDF rendering) occurs on our servers and may use third‑party providers.
Eligibility and Accounts
Accounts are intended for adults (e.g., teachers, parents, guardians). You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and all activity under your account.
Your Content; License to Operate the Service
You retain ownership of the text, images, and other content you submit (“Content”). You grant us a limited, revocable, non‑exclusive license to host, process, and transmit Content solely to provide the Service (including OCR and PDF rendering) and support.
You represent you have all rights necessary to use the Content with the Service and that your use does not violate law or third‑party rights.
AI Output and Safety
OCR and related processing run server‑side and may use third‑party AI services. Outputs can contain errors or omissions; review them before use. Subject to third‑party terms, you own your outputs. We do not use your private Content to train our own machine learning models. We may block unsafe or unlawful content.
Acceptable Use
You will not: violate law or others’ rights; upload unlawful, harmful, abusive, or infringing content; probe or disrupt systems; bypass quotas or security; scrape or misuse the Service; benchmark to compete or use outputs to train competing models; or submit sensitive personal data (e.g., financial, health, or government IDs) or children’s personal data unless you have all required consents and legal bases. We may suspend or terminate for violations.
Plans and Billing
Plan features and limits are shown in the app. Exported PDFs include a small "made with tracewriting.com" footer on all plans. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store card numbers. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing cycle (via the Stripe Billing Portal). Refunds are handled on a case‑by‑case basis; contact support if you have concerns.
Intellectual Property
We (and our licensors) own the Service, including software, designs, and branding. Except as permitted by law, do not copy, modify, reverse‑engineer, or create derivative works of the Service.
Third‑Party Services
We integrate third‑party providers for authentication, billing, infrastructure, storage, and AI/OCR. Current providers include WorkOS (authentication), Stripe (payments), Supabase (database), Vercel and Vercel Blob (hosting/storage), and Google Generative AI (OCR). Your use may also be subject to their terms and policies.
Export Controls and Sanctions
You represent you are not subject to sanctions and will not use the Service in prohibited jurisdictions or for prohibited end uses under applicable export laws.
Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. AI OUTPUTS MAY CONTAIN ERRORS. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON‑INFRINGEMENT.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF US$100 OR THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY.
Indemnification
You will defend and indemnify us from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your Content, your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third‑party rights.
Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate the Service or your access for security, legal, or operational reasons.
Modifications and Availability
We may add, change, or remove features and may suspend the Service for maintenance, security, or legal reasons. If we discontinue the Service, we will provide reasonable notice where practicable.
Feedback
If you provide feedback, you grant us a non‑exclusive, perpetual, royalty‑free license to use it without restriction.
Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to conflict‑of‑law rules. You consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state or federal courts located in Wyoming, including the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming.
DMCA and Takedown
To report alleged infringement, provide: (a) identification of the copyrighted work; (b) the material’s URL in the Service; (c) your name, address, telephone, and email; (d) a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good‑faith belief the use is unauthorized; and (e) a statement that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act. We may remove or disable access to the material and, where appropriate, terminate repeat infringers.
Changes and Contact
We will post updates to these Terms in the app. For questions, contact support using the in‑app link or email us at support.
